River Trails offers junior tennis camps throughout the year for students of all ages and ability levels, helping players at every stage of development improve games, develop consistency, and have fun with peers.

2023 Summer Camps

Tuesday, May 31 – Friday, August 12 (11 weeks)
Weather permitting, camp will be held outside on our 7 Har-Tru (clay) courts. This is a great opportunity to improve footwork, consistency, mental toughness, and patience. Indoor courts will be used as backup during inclement weather. Call or stop by the front desk to register.

4-7 Years Old

Daily sessions are 2 hours, designed to build a foundation for tennis success. Players will learn fundamental tennis techniques and be introduced to the basics of competitive play (rallying, keeping score, etc.). Exercises will develop hand-eye coordination, footwork and agility. Classes will foster a love of the game.

Tournament Team Camp

A program designed for the most committed players. A full day schedule allows for rigorous, consistent competition to enable play at the highest levels of competitive tennis. Criteria to participate (including match play):
  • UTR rating of 4 or higher /Age 12 and up (exceptions can be made with coaches approval)
  • Junior membership required
  • A house account is required

Daily Schedule

SESSION TIME
8:00-9:30am Rally-based consistency training. All shots will be practiced in a controlled method. Groundstrokes, volleys, overheads, serves, and returns.
9:30-11:00am 45-minute fitness session and 45-minute break time. Fitness training will focus on footwork, agility, core strength, flexibility, explosiveness, speed, and endurance.
11:00am-1:00pm High intensity competitive training. Competitive situations simulating match play, with a focus on how to handle situations appropriately. This time will also be used to work on specialty shots (approach shots, swinging volleys, etc.).
1:00-2:00pm Lunch break
2:00-4:00pm Match play

Charges will be split into 2 installments: half in June, and the other half in July.

Registration Policies

  • Flexible attendance: you can sign up for an entire session or pay by class.
  • Sign up for a full session of a class to reserve a permanent spot. Missed classes will be handled according to the make-up policy listed here.
  • Registrations mid-session are allowable if a permanent spot exists and at least two classes remain in the session. The cost will be prorated.
  • Any occasional or partial attendance outside these parameters would be priced using our “per-time” fees.
  • Class size: min 3, max 5 per court.
  • Member and Non-Member rates.

Make-Up Policies

  • Please let the front desk know as soon as possible if you are unable to attend your class.
  • With advanced notice, you will be entitled to a make-up class.
  • Make-ups can be scheduled at the front desk (in person or over the phone) and must be prearranged.
  • Make-ups are offered but not guaranteed and they are to be completed within the same session. (Exceptions made when classes are missed in the last 2 weeks of the session).
  • If these procedures are inadequate for your situation, you should sign up as a “per-time” participant (not sign up for the full session).

Tennis Attire

  • Athletic gear is appropriate for all tennis activities.
  • Blue jeans and running shoes are discouraged as they may interfere with safe mobility.
  • Absolutely no dark soled or marking shoes.
  • No chewing gum during play or on the courts.
